A Letter from Upton Sinclair to Theodore Roosevelt

Yesterday's document of the day from the National Archives was a letter sent by Upton Sinclair to President Theodore Roosevelt. In the letter Sinclair advises Roosevelt to have the federal inspectors of meat-packing houses wear disguises in order to see the true conditions of the facilities they visit.

Applications for Education
A couple of the literature teachers in my school have students read The Jungle every year. I'm sure there are many other literature teachers around the country that do the same. This letter from Sinclair to Roosevelt could be a complement to a lesson about Sinclair and his role in the Progressive Era in US History.
