OpenEd.io is a free service that launched a few months ago for the purpose of offering a huge catalog of educational videos and games. One of the services OpenEd.io offers is the option for teachers to create courses and collections of resources to share with their students. This week OpenEd.io released a free Android app that students can use to view the videos and other resources their teachers share with them.
Applications for Education
Using the OpenEd.io Android app could be a convenient option for students who want to access shared content on their tablets or phones. I'd like to see OpenEd offer an iPad app in the future too.
For teachers one of the biggest benefits of using OpenEd is found in the search tools. Rather than searching and hoping to find a video on YouTube that matches the standard(s) you're addressing in a lesson, you can start with the standard and have OpenEd locate videos for you.
